1. Introduction.

One of my slogans has been, If you are finished learning, you are not finished learning, but finished. I have seen enough of spurious correlations and garbage regression. I have seen enough of quasi curve fitting.

2. Social networks a fad or ... ?

I have seen popular online chat sites die. Big banks are too big to fail. What about social networks? What about social networks sites? Are some too big to die?

3. How shall we model social networks?

This

is a more serious analysis. Read it and judge for yourself.

4. Some of my favorite online resources.

http://www.wolfram.com/

http://accu.org/

http://stackexchange.com/sites

First of all I found this

http://stats.stackexchange.com/question ... -to-an-end

topic there. An example of similar topics you find there (more or less related to this thread):

http://stats.stackexchange.com/question ... not-unique

http://math.stackexchange.com/questions ... -reasoning

These resources can of course be used by members of a social network. Read papers, reports and articles and discuss them on the network.
