The WordPress APIs. Languages and their use

Post by KBleivik »

1. Introduction.
The WordPress API stands for the WordPress Application Programming Interface. It can be separated into multiple API sections / topics. Each covers the functions involved in and use of a given set of functionality. Together they form what might be called the WordPress API, which is the plugin/theme/add-on interface created by the entire WordPress project.

2. Create native mobile apps with Word Press and PhoneGap

Note that you can easily create a mobile website with WordPress by using a mobile theme or themes that support mobile devices. This may be a quick and easy way to create mobile applications out of WordPress, but it does not provide a native interface for the application.

But you can combine WordPress with PhoneGap to build some really cool mobile applications. While it may not be obvious, WordPress can be used in conjunction with PhoneGap to create native mobile apps, with a powerful backend content management system (CMS) provided by WordPress.

Note: That Adobe DreamWeaver CS 6 comes with PhoneGap build.

3. Install Buddypress and get a Wordpress powered social networking site

Log in to your WordPress site and navigate to Plugins | Add New and search for BuddyPress. You can install BuddyPress by clicking on Install Now. As of this writing there are 16 additional BuddyPress related plugins.

You can of course have your company's infrastructure on a http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/ ... face-pro-2 with 8 Gb ram, 512 Gb harddrive and 200 Gb SkyDrive storage. With WiFi or other mobile internet access you can do most of your work as you Go. With a smaller tablet you have your company's infrastructure in your pocket.

book use the excellent resources and themes from Templatic. The book demonstrates how to use the GeoPlaces theme to build a mobile application. By using the GeoPlaces theme you can add geographic capabilities to your WordPress site. Google Maps are built directly into the GeoPlaces theme.

6. Test the Geo Places theme on Cybertoolbar.com

I have installed and activated the Geo Places theme on my site http://www.cybertoolbar.com/ and populated it with sample data. Please be patient since it may take time to load the data on the Google map while you select a city.
